Hysteroscopic Adhesiolysis

Hysteroscopic adhesiolysis is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to treat intrauterine adhesions, also known as Asherman's syndrome. These adhesions, which can form as a result of uterine surgery, infection, or trauma, can lead to symptoms such as menstrual irregularities, pelvic pain, and infertility. During the procedure, a hysteroscope—a thin, lighted tube—is inserted through the cervix into the uterus, allowing the surgeon to visually inspect the uterine cavity. Specialized instruments are then used to carefully cut and remove the adhesions, restoring the normal anatomy of the uterine cavity. This procedure not only improves menstrual function and alleviates pain but also significantly enhances fertility outcomes for women seeking to conceive. Postoperative care often includes the use of hormonal therapy or an intrauterine device to prevent the reformation of adhesions and promote healing.
